DOT Physical in Donna, TX: Get Your CDL Medical Card

Need a DOT physical in Donna, TX? Doho Wellness Clinic performs DOT physicals (CDL medical exams) by appointment at our clinic at 522 N Main St, Suite 1, Donna, TX 78537, a short drive from Weslaco, Alamo, Mercedes, Pharr and McAllen. We see new CDL drivers, owner-operators, company drivers, bus and school-bus drivers, and anyone whose medical card is about to expire. DOT physicals are done in the clinic only.

Who needs a DOT physical?

  • Drivers getting or renewing a commercial driver’s license (CDL).
  • Drivers of commercial vehicles over 10,000 lbs used in interstate commerce.
  • Drivers carrying hazardous materials that require placards.
  • Drivers of vehicles built to carry 9 or more passengers for pay, or 16 or more passengers.
  • Anyone whose employer or carrier asks for a current Medical Examiner’s Certificate.

What happens during a DOT physical

  1. Health history form: you fill out the driver section of the FMCSA medical examination report, including medicines, surgeries and conditions.
  2. Vision check: at least 20/40 in each eye (with or without glasses or contacts) and an adequate side (peripheral) vision field.
  3. Hearing check: a forced-whisper test, or a hearing test if needed. Bring your hearing aids if you use them.
  4. Blood pressure and pulse.
  5. Urinalysis: a simple dipstick check for protein, blood and sugar. This is not a drug test.
  6. Physical exam: heart, lungs, abdomen, spine, limbs and neurological checks.

Most DOT physicals take about 30–45 minutes. If you need a DOT drug test or alcohol test for your job, we can usually do the collection at the same visit.

What to bring to your DOT physical

  • Driver’s license (and CDL if you have one).
  • Glasses, contacts or hearing aids if you use them.
  • A list of all your medicines, with doses.
  • Diabetes: a recent A1c result. If you use insulin, bring the Insulin-Treated Diabetes Assessment form completed by your treating provider.
  • Sleep apnea: your CPAP compliance report.
  • Heart conditions, stroke, seizures or recent surgery: a clearance letter or recent records from your specialist.

How long is a DOT medical card good for?

A Medical Examiner’s Certificate is valid for up to 24 months. Some drivers receive a shorter card (for example 1 year or 3 months) so a condition like high blood pressure can be rechecked. Bringing your records helps avoid a delay.

Tips to pass your DOT physical

  • Take your usual medicines on the day of your exam, including blood pressure pills.
  • Skip extra coffee, energy drinks and nicotine before your visit; they can raise blood pressure.
  • Get a good night’s sleep and drink water.
  • Book a few weeks before your card expires so there’s time for follow-up if needed.

Other physicals and testing for drivers and employers

We also offer pre-employment physicals in Donna, school, sports and work physicals, drug testing for Weslaco and Pharr employers, and employer accounts with one monthly invoice. Read our simple DOT physical guide for commercial drivers for more.

DOT physical FAQs

How much is a DOT physical in Donna, TX?

Call or text 956-338-2875 for pricing. A free consultation is available if you’d like one. If you already know what you need, just request a day and time, and once we agree on it, a $25 booking fee holds your appointment and is applied to your visit.

Do you take walk-ins for DOT physicals?

No. DOT physicals are by appointment only so you don’t wait. We’re open Mon–Fri 9 AM–5 PM and Sat–Sun 9 AM–7 PM (weekends subject to availability).

Can I get my DOT physical and DOT drug test at the same visit?

Usually yes. Tell us when you send your inquiry and we’ll plan both. DOT drug test results go through a certified lab and a Medical Review Officer, so they are not instant.

Can you do DOT physicals at my job site?

DOT physicals are done at our Donna clinic only. We can come to your job site for DOT and non-DOT drug test collections and non-DOT physicals anywhere in the RGV.

Is the urine test in a DOT physical a drug test?

No. The DOT physical urinalysis checks for protein, blood and sugar. A DOT drug test is a separate collection.

Request your appointment today. Free consultations are available if you have questions. Send us an inquiry and we’ll get back to you with our available times, or call/text 956-338-2875.
