What is an instant non-DOT drug test?

An instant drug test (also called a rapid or point-of-care drug screen) checks a urine sample for common drugs and gives a result in minutes, while you wait. It is a non-DOT test, which means it is for employers, programs and people who are not required to follow federal Department of Transportation (DOT) testing rules.

A negative result is ready right away. If a screen is not negative, it is treated as a preliminary result, and the sample can be sent to a certified laboratory for confirmation before anyone makes a final decision.

3. A $25 booking fee secures your appointment and is applied to your visit. We’ll send the payment link after your good faith exam (when required) and once a day and time are agreed. Please pay within 2 hours while we hold your spot — if the fee isn’t paid within 2 hours, the hold is released; just contact the clinic to set a new day and time.

If you drive a commercial motor vehicle, your medical card is just as important as your CDL. Doho Wellness Clinic in Donna now offers DOT physicals for commercial drivers by appointment, on weekdays and weekends. Here is what to expect so your visit goes quickly and you can get back on the road.

Who needs a DOT physical?

Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) rules require most interstate commercial drivers to pass a DOT physical and carry a current Medical Examiner’s Certificate. This usually includes CDL holders driving trucks, buses and other large vehicles. If you are not sure whether your job requires one, ask your employer or send us a question with your inquiry.

A medical certificate can be valid for up to 24 months. Some drivers receive a shorter certificate, for example when a condition like high blood pressure needs to be checked more often.

What the exam covers

• A review of your health history and current medications
• Vision and hearing checks
• Blood pressure and pulse
• A urine test that checks for signs of health problems such as kidney issues or diabetes (this is not a drug test)
• A general physical exam, including heart, lungs, abdomen, spine and reflexes

What to bring

1. Your driver’s license (and CDL, if you have one)
2. Your glasses, contacts or hearing aids if you use them
3. A list of your medications and doses
4. Recent records for any ongoing condition, such as diabetes, sleep apnea or a heart condition, including notes from your specialist if you have them

Bringing records ahead of time is the best way to avoid a delay or a short-term certificate.

Many employers ask new drivers for a pre-employment drug test in addition to the physical. We are a certified 49 CFR Part 40 collector and offer DOT and non-DOT drug and alcohol testing, so you can often take care of both in one trip. Just tell us in your inquiry so we can plan the right amount of time.

We are open Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, and Saturday and Sunday, 9 AM to 7 PM (weekends subject to availability). Visits are by appointment only, with no walk-ins, so you will not sit in a crowded waiting room. Here’s an honest look at what these services are, who they may help, and what they can’t do.

What is an Immunity IV drip?

An Immunity drip delivers fluids plus a blend of vitamins straight into your bloodstream through a small IV. Because it skips the stomach, your body gets the fluids and vitamins right away. Your nurse practitioner will explain exactly what’s in your drip before it starts. Most drips take 45 to 60 minutes while you relax in a comfortable chair.

Safety first

Every visit starts with a short health form, vital signs and a screening by our nurse practitioner. IV therapy isn’t right for everyone, including some people with heart failure or serious kidney disease, so we check before every drip. If you have a high fever or feel very sick, book a telehealth consult first so we can guide you to the right care. IV therapy is not emergency care: if you have chest pain, trouble breathing or confusion, call 911.
